Pancakes The All American breakfast

So for years now my friends have been asking me for a recipe for American pancakes. I have said to them all “I have a great recipe and it is so simple that nothing can go wrong when you make it” And they are.

The best thing that I enjoy most about a good pancake recipe is that it is very adaptable and you can put anything you like in it, my boys prefer blueberries, my daughter loved bananas, and chocolate chips are yummy as well.

Well I will get on with the recipe it is a simple one so wont be much to it.

You will need

3/4 cup milk
2 tablespoons butter, melted
1 egg
1 cup flour
3 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon sugar
1 tablespoon Vanilla

First you need to whisk egg till light and fluffy, The gives the pancakes air and makes them very light.
Next you want to melt the butter into the milk and mix all of the ingredients together, fold the egg in at the end.

Mixture should have a slightly runny consistency

Using a tablespoon drop into the pan one spoonful at a time, Do not overcrowd in the pan they will expand. The pan should have a tsp of butter melted into it before you add the batter.

The pancakes should have bubbles in them when they are ready to turn over

When they are golden brown on each side they are ready I usually hold them in the oven on the lowest setting

This recipes makes enough pancakes to serve a family of 4 and doubles up real well if you have company. Remember this recipe is very adaptable and you can put just about anything you like in it as long as you don’t add to much moisture to it. Be creative and Enjoy.
