I have to admit that I am a bit of a sweet junky, but I don’t always like overly sweet treats. Do not get me wrong I enjoy a slice of chocolate cake as much as the next person but sometimes that it can be a bit much.
Coffee cake reminds me of my childhood we use to buy these Little Debbie prebaked Coffee cakes and they were yummy. This recipe is so much better than those a pre baked coffee cake full of preservatives.
Apple Coffee Cake By David Green
3/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup sweet butter, room temp
1 cup milk
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 1/2 cup sifted all-purpose flour
2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1 apple diced small
1/2 cup brown sugar
2 Tbsp all-purpose flour
2 Tbsp softened butter
2 tsp cinnamon
First you want to preheat oven to 180 C. This is a quick cake to put together so make sure you have a cake pan ready and dust it lightly with flour.
Now you should cream the butter and sugar until fluffy then add the egg and mix in. Sifted all the dry ingredients together and mix the milk with the vanilla.
Next you need to add a little dry ingredients and a little of the milk mix alternately. Mix the apples into the batter but be careful not to over mix.
Pour half the batter into the cake tin and top with 1/2 the streusel mix then add the remaining batter and streusel to the cake pan.
You are now ready to bake the cake. This should be for aproxamately for 30 to 40 minutes or until a tooth pick inserted in the center comes out clean.
Give it a try this recipe is so moist and the addition of the apple makes it pop in your mouth. You can add any fruit you like be creative and Enjoy.
